Q: Where are you located?

I have offices in 2 locations in Seattle: Downtown (Cabrini Medical Tower, 901 Boren Ave) and in the Magnolia neighborhood (2303 W Commodore Way).

On Mondays I practice in the suburb of Edmonds (downtown on the waterfront, 300 Admiral Way).

Q: What is your typical process for working with a new client?

The decision to pursue psychotherapy and counseling services is an important and personal one. I offer a complimentary 30 minute introductory session over the phone to answer questions and help you decide if the services I provide will meet your needs. This consultation appointment is an opportunity for me to learn about you, your concerns and your goals, and it’s also a time for you to see if I will be a good fit for you.

Q: What advice would you give someone looking to hire a counselor?

What advice would you give someone looking to hire a counselor? Make sure any provider offers a free phone consultation and then speak with the person on the phone first, so you can get a sense of whether or not you want to talk to this person. The therapeutic relationship requires lots of trust, and you need to feel that the person you hire as a therapist listens to you and empathizes with you. Try to get a sense of this during your initial phone conversation, as well as making sure they are experienced in dealing with your particular issues.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check and credit and debit payments.  At this time I am not in-network for any insurance provider,  but I will happily provide a billing statement you may submit to your insurance for an out-of-network service. It is up to you to determine whether or not your policy allows for out-of-network reimbursement and I encourage you to discuss coverage with your insurance carrier. Please keep in mind that most insurance providers will not cover couples counseling.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

I limit my practice so that I may bring full attention and energy to my clients. I am currently accepting a limited number of new clients.

Q: How often would I come in? 

I typically encourage weekly counseling sessions initially to ensure that we are meeting your immediate needs and progressing toward your desired goals. Together we will continually evaluate how the therapeutic process is working for you, if you need additional services such as medication therapy, and how our patient/therapist relationship is working for you.

Q: How many sessions would I see you?

The duration of therapy is solely up to you. It depends greatly on your goal, the complexity of the situation, and your readiness to change.

Q: How long does a session last?

Individual counseling sessions run 55 minutes, Couple/Parent & Child counseling sessions run 90 minutes, and Groups run 90 minutes.
